Northants MG Owners' Club and Your Data (GDPR)
Personal data collection, storage and retrieval is controlled as required by the General Data Protection Regulations (GPDR) that came into effect in 2018.
For the purposes of the GDPR, Northants MG Owners' Club (the Club) is a collector of personal data.
For family/joint memberships, the data held is for each individual partner.
What personal data does the Club collect?
The data we routinely collect includes members' names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers and classic car details. We collect this data directly from our members when they join the Club and whenever updating is required/or advised by members.
What is the legal basis for collecting this data?
The Club collects personal data that is necessary for the purposes of its legitimate interests as a membership organisation.
What does the Club use this personal data for?
The Club uses members' data for the administration of your membership, the communication of information, the distribution of our online magazines and the organisation of events.
Who is your personal data shared with?
No details of your membership are shared with any other clubs, companies or organisations. (This includes the national MG Owners' Club).
Where the Club and its members are jointly exhibiting or attending an event, the Club may collect the members individually completed application forms and submit them to the organiser (or their agent) on behalf of the member.
How is your data stored?
This information is mainly stored in digital form on computers and, in the case of your membership application forms, stored at the home of the Membership Secretary.
All membership data held is password-protected and, where necessary, encrypted.
Under the GDPR we do not have a statutory requirement to be registered with the Information Commissioner's Office nor do we require a Data Protection Officer.
The person who is responsible for ensuring the Northants MG Owners' Club discharges its obligations under the GDPR is the Membership Secretary.
Who has access to your data?
The Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and other members of the committee of the Club have access to members' data for them to carry out their legitimate tasks for the Club.
How can you check what data we have about you?
If you want to see the membership data we hold about you, you should contact the Membership Secretary.
How long we keep your data for, and why?
We normally keep members' data after they resign or their membership lapses in case they later wish to re-join for a period of 60 days. However, we will delete any former member's contact details immediately upon request.
How can you change your mailing preferences?
If you no longer wish to receive group emails from the Club, you must send the request to the Secretary. It can take up to 21 days for your request to be completed.
If you subsequently wish to receive group emails from the Club, make your request in the same way.
